What is it that’s so special about
VILACROSSE BOUTIQUE INN?
Among others, hands down, it’s the location. The hotel is situated in the Macca-Vilacrosse Passage, a famous fork-shaped street in the centre of Bucharest. The locals have always cherished this particular tiny spot of the city’s legacy. The yellow arcades still remind us of the royal glamour that once took over Romania’s cities.
Romania’s royalty is no longer what it’s used to be, but the beauty and sophistication it helped create are still very much present.
One part of this passage was called Vilacrosse, while the other Macca, after the old owners. The passage opens onto Calea Victoriei, the city’s most important avenue, but it also opens on the other side – towards the National Bank of Romania in the historic Lipscani district.
Interesting is also the fact that Macca-Vilacrosse hosted the first Stock Exchange House of Bucharest, back when the needs for such a housing were less demanding than they are today. For almost half of a century, between the 1950s and the 1990s, the passage was called Pasajul Bijuteria (“Jewellery Store Passage”).
We have taken the history, added the multi-cultural vibration and sprinkled the local colour. The result is Villacrosse Boutique Inn. – a place where you will feel safe, comfortable and special.
